Purpose/ Navigation/ Usage

These pages are intended for use by current students, students that I advise, and other interested parties. If you are taking a class, select the classes link. All other links are on the left or right.

Most likely you are visiting this page for one of the following purposes:

  • you are a student in one of my classes and are looking for supplemental materials (or additional materials not found in Blackboard). Select the Classes link.
  • you are in need of advising (and I am your advisor). In this case, select the Advising link then complete the tasks prior to arranging a meeting with me. It is easiest if you arrive during scheduled office hours. If you are not able to make these, contact me to make an appointment at a more suitable time.
  • you are interested in examples of web sites created by students in previous semesters for not for profit organizations. Choose the Ex. sites link on the left.
  • you are interested in the SkillsUSA web page contest. Choose the SkillsUSA link on the left.
  • you are a former student who would like to refer to material from a previous class. Choose the Prv. classes link on the left.
  • finally, you need to determine my office location or office hours for the week. Choose the Office link on the left.

Why do you change these pages each semester?

These pages are meant to provide students with ideas as to what is possible (and to demonstrate what works and what doesn't in web page design). If you wish to see an array of different approaches, select the Prv. classes link and examine web pages from the various semesters I have taught web page development at ICC (2000 - 2005).

These pages were developed for the Spring, 2005 semester. For this semester, I chose to use a content management system. During previous semesters, I often provided a series of navigation alternatives; this semester, I chose to demonstrate only one example. I will demonstrate the power of CMS during various class discussions.

Software Used

For the majority of classes, we stick with standard software (such as Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, Flash, and Visual Studio.Net). However, in order to demonstrate various approaches, I have negotiated with several software vendors to employ their software in selected classes as examples. For those who are curious which software is being used, I provide links to those companies on the right side of this page.

It is now Sunday, September 5 2010 9:53:15 PM on this ICC server.
